My Favourite Jungle CD's

Smokey Joe - Smokey Joe Incorporated
This is a really interesting album. There is a variety of up beat, jump
up Jungle tunes mixed with some of the darkest jungle tunes as well.
This CD is partially mixed, the endings of the tunes fade nicely into
the next, and I think this is a nice touch, I feel like it keeps the
energy of the tunes.
My favourite tunes on this CD are "Run Dem", "Dirty Face", and
"Shining 98".
"Run Dem" is an evil tune, the bassline is DARK it just makes
you pull a screw face.
I can only imagine "Dirty Face" is named after the face you pull when
you listen to it. Again like "Run Dem" the bassline is evil and
DARK with some heavy drums in there too.
"Shining 98" is a more upbeat tune but it is still great as it is a
really high energy tune with some wobbly bass.

Renegade Hardware - Renegade Soundscapes Volume 1
I didnt really know whether to put this in the Drum & Bass list or the
Jungle list. But it is going in the Jungle list because of two tunes
by Future Engineers.
This CD contains a variety of different styles of Drum & Bass and Jungle
with some tunes like "Code" being dark Drum & Bass tunes and tunes like
"The Silence" being very etherial, atmospheric Jungle.
My favourite tunes on this CD are:
- Absolute Zero + Subphonics - Code
- Future Engineers - The Silence
- Future Engineers - Shattered

Metalheadz - Platinum Breakz 1
The Platinum Breakz series is a staple in Jungle music, with some of
the most interesting tunes on them.
This album contains loads of Jungle tunes with that distinct Metalheadz
sound to them. Some tunes are heavy jump up tunes and others have that
more etherial sound to them.
My favourite tunes on this album are:
- Lemon D - In my life
- Source Direct - A Made Up Sound
- Asylum - Da Bass II Dark
- Alex Reece - Pulp Fiction

Metalheadz - Metal Box Set
This CD features a variety of different tunes on it, most of them with
a dark tone to them, which I like.
Some of the tunes are fairly fast, up beat Jungle tunes others are slow
and dark and some (Optical - To Shape The Future Remix) are hard Drum &
bass tunes.
There are also tunes on this CD which I wouldnt call either Jungle or
Drum & Bass. According to Discogs there is also Downtempo and Dub tunes
, I am not the most clued up on these genres but I would have to geuss
a tune like "Westway" by Ed Rush would come under Downtempo.
Originally when I got this CD I wasnt a massive fan of it, I think at
the time I was looking for more of Moving Shadow 01.1 style of tune and
although I liked this CD it wasnt my favourite. I think
I bought the CD because "To Shape The Future Remix" was on it, this is
one of my favourite Drum & Bass tunes, so I thought the whole CD would
be of this style.
As time has gone on it has grown on me a lot more and I have come to
like the slower, darker tunes on it. And now I would say it is one of
my favourite CD's that I own.
This CD seems to be fairly rare and expensive too now, every listing I
see is £20+ and they dont come up too often on Ebay. The vinyl version
is even more expensive with a complete set with the metal tin going for
£50+ from what I have seen.
A reason that the vinyl version might be more expensive other than it
being vinyl + old + a lot of vinyl + great tunes is that they were
originally shipped in PVC sleeves which kill the records over time.
My favourite tunes from this CD are:
- Digital - Special Mission
- Digital - Far Out
- Optical - To Shape The Future Remix
- Ed Rush - Sabotage
