How do the police know who I am?

Boring night out

I went out with two of my friends (at the time), in about March of this year (2025), we were in and out of the nightclubs in the city that I live in, it was nothing spectacular. I will call one of them Adam and the other Eve for ease of explaination.

I went home before everyone at around 2:30 AM, Adam and Eve were both very drunk and they continuted to stay out until about 3 AM when Adam's phone died and Eve offered to let him sleep on the sofa at hers for the night. So then Adam got in a taxi with Eve back to Eves house. This all seems normal until you realise that Eve lives about 20 miles away from Adam in a different town and that Adams house was on the way and in the same city.

Adam lives with his mum, and they were meant to go on holiday in the morning. Adam was never a very responsible bloke, once a sip of drink touched his lips he became a mindless retard low intelligence Fallout 2 character. Eve also lives with her mum and dad, and they would not appreciate a random bloke staying over, as I later found out a few weeks after this when I stayed at hers after going out in her town.

Anyway, the next morning comes by, and I am woken up by the knock of a police man at my door. I start shitting bricks thinking "what the fuck have I done now!?" I have been in trouble with the police before for drug related things and I thought the worst.

It turns out that Adams mum had reported him missing after he didnt come home that night and they were meant to go on holiday (understandable). I thought nothing of it and I called Eve to ask where he was, and then passed that over to the police, they went and picked him up and all was well (sort of). Of course Adams mum went skitz and I went skitz also as I dont want the police knocking waking me up, this was the like the fifth strike against me and Adams friendship which later led to me cutting him off.

Some context about me and Adams friendship

I have known Adam since secondary school, he was in my form from year 7 to year 11. It was very much an in school friendship, we only spoke outside of school on Xbox Live really, I think I met up with him maybe once outside of school in like year 8 or something.

After secondary school me and Adam didnt speak at all for maybe 2 - 3 years until one of my other close friends, who I will call Steve, bumped into him on the street and got chatting with him again. Me, Steve, Eve and other people would frequently go to raves and nightclubs and we decided to invite Adam along with us as he had never really been out at all.

At first Adam was calm, a bit out of his depth maybe? He had never really experienced anything like it. In year 10, 11, 12, and 13 me, Steve and others would go out into parks and be degenrates by drinking, smoking and taking drugs so we were used to this sort of environment whilst Adam was not.

Over time Adam became a drinker and he would turn very aggressive whilst drinking, often getting us into trouble with other ravers by starting fights and other bullshit. This led to me, Steve and Eve souring on Adam.

Anyway, this is all kind of irrelevant Adam lore you dont need to know. All you need to know is that me, Adam and Steve have known eachover years but me and Adam dont know eachover that well in terms of family. Adams mum knows my first name, but has never met my mum or even know her name, she has no idea where I live or really who I am. The same goes for Steves mum and dad, they know a bit more as me and Steve are close mates but his parents dont know my last name or where I live.

Eve

I introduced Eve into the friend group, she lives in a different town to all of us but I know her through college. At the time of the night out Eve didnt know me *that* well yet. Later on we had a relationship and of course she met my parents and everything, but for this story all you need to know is that she was just as blind to me as Adam is, having no links back to me, I could of disappeard at any time and both of these would have no leads to find me (address, parents etc).

My past with the police

I have been in trouble with the police before when I was a teenager. I got arrested for drugs a few times and almost got expelled from school because of it. I was never an addict or anything, I just smoked a lot of weed and me and my mates at the time used to experiment with things like ecstacy and 2C-B, both things I have been caught with.

The point is that the police did know me, but not *that* well. Some of mates have also been in trouble for other offences, mainly Steve who was almost sent to prision over a violent offence which I had to defend him against. So the police also had my phone number (IMPORTANT INFO).

Steves case went on for about a year and part of his bail condition was that he was not allowed to contact me in anyway, which makes me think his phone may have been bugged, we still met up during this time but we went through other people and used fake names to communicate.

TLDR: Steve and I have both been arrested before, the police have both our phone numbers, me and Steve were banned from communicating for a year, I think Steves phone may have been bugged (at the very least tracked).

How the fuck did they find me!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!

So back to the main story, after the police left my house that morning a few questions dawned on me:

Like I mentioned above, Adams mum does not know me, yes she could of told the police that Adam was out with me, but how do they know it's not one of the 3/4 other people who have the same first name of me that went to my secondary school and live in the same sort of area?

Sure they could of asked the school, but I doubt the school would still have my data all these years later, 5 years or so by now since I left.

Eve would of had no involvment in it, Steve didnt know until I told him all about it, however his mum had been contacted by Adams mum but like I said, Both Steve and Adams parents have no links back to my parents or me (they dont even know my surname!).

I suppose my history with the police could of been a factor but then again there are a few people with my name in the area who also went to the same school so how could they be so certain it is me as to only go to my house.

This leaves me to my conclusion, my phone is tapped. They have my number from Steves case, and they know Steve is associated with Adam and they know I am friends with Steve, so they must of tracked phone lines right? Or just looked up my name in the Steve case file I suppose.

I dont know? It bugs me all the time, how the fuck did they find me? Adams mum has 0 links back to me, all of tracking must of been done by the police, which is scary that they were so accurate in finding me.
