Using A 'Dumb' Phone In 2025

Introduction

My first ever phone was some Sony Erricson which was my dads back in the day, I dont remember the year exactly, this would of been around 2009 - 2010 (yes I am a dirty Zoomer).

Ever since having my first phone be a dumb phone I have always liked the idea of having another one. I wanted one more and more as I have gotten older and got interested in technology.

Back in 2022 was when I first actively bought and used a dumb phone, the phone was some Nokia (105 2019 version I think). I used it for a while until it broke and then bought a Nokia 110 and used that until it broke.

I was very careless with my phones if you couldn't tell, I was always breaking them, for a lot of the early 2020's I used an Iphone 5 because I kept breaking all of my modern smart phones.

Flash forward to 2025 and I am back on the dumb phones, in this post I will talk about different phones and my trials and tribulations with them.

My Current Phone

As of the 5th of March 2025 I am using a Nokia 105 4G as my phone of choice. Before I got this phone I was using a Nokia 110 4G.

Overall this phone is pretty decent but it is not anything special.

The pro's:

The con's: Overall, I would say the pro's outweight the con's, and for £10, you cant really go wrong.

If you need a basic dumb phone for calling and texting this is it. It does not include a lot shitware features like shitty cameras you are not going to use outside of showcasing how bad it is, it does not have loads of social media functionality etc.

I can ignore most of the con's but the fact there is no hotspot really bugs me. I don't really see why it cannot be done on these phones, other dumb phones made by Nokia have hotspot but these are all running KaiOS and are expensive. The only reason I keep a smart phone around now is for hotspot.
