There are no good laptops anymore

Rant Incoming!

So my ThinkPad T500 is showing its age a little bit as of recently, mainly in web browsing. It gets quite hot, and can get quite slow on bloated sites like YouTube. I am also very concerned about the hinges going, which killed my last T500, so I have been in the market for a new laptop.

I was initially looking at some newer ThinkPads like the X201, but then I thought, I have had these machines before, I have basically owned all the major ThinkPad models pre T430, and I know if the T500 is slow they will also be slow.

So I was expanding my horizons, looking at Panasonic Lets Notes, Dell Latitudes, HP Elitebooks, etc. But all of these laptops have major flaws , usually one of the following:

I know its a bit nit picky wanting all of these features in a laptop, but then again just think, the laptops of 20 years ago had all of these features, why is it so hard to implement now?!?!?!

My T500 has replacable components, a trackpoint, an optical drive, all the ports you would ever need, a great keyboard, and it is pretty big but its sleek. Why is it so difficult to make a laptop with modern hardware like this?

Update

For now I think I am going to stay with the T500, unless something good crops up and I have the money (which something has cropped up). I have found a ThinkPad T520 on Ebay for £140 with Libreboot installed and me_cleaner run. This seems like a good deal to be honest and I might pick it up, I had a T500 in the past and I ended up selling it because it felt flimsy compared to my T400 which I had at the time.
